The North Course has benefitted from a major renovation

The 1950s-inspired Magnolia Hotel is an intimate, but chic boutique retreat that underwent a major upgrade in the spring. The 74-bedroom hotel offers guests modern and stylish rooms with private balconies, a heated outdoor swimming pool, a wellness centre, a poolside bar and a revamped restaurant.
Quinta do Lago is famed for its outstanding golf courses and practice facilities, including the TaylorMade Performance Centre – the only one in southern Europe – and the Paul McGinley Academy. The South Course recently jumped 35 places in the Top 100 Golf Courses of Continental Europe website’s rankings to 43rd – the second biggest climber in the standings.
The North Course – redesigned in 2014 by American designer Beau Welling and Paul McGinley at a cost of €9.6m – moved up three places to 92nd in the rankings. And the scenic par-72 Laranjal, which meanders through orange groves and boasts a natural feel, won Portugal’s Best Golf Course of 2011 at the Portuguese Travel Awards.
Quinta do Lago is nestled in the picturesque Ria Formosa Natural Park and is home to some of the finest restaurants in the Algarve, such as the Bovino Steakhouse and Casa do Lago, which sits on the lakeshore and is well known for its great seafood.
In addition, Quinta do Lago has just opened a world-class sports hub, the Campus, that is designed for all visitors, whether they are professional athletes in need of a state-of-the-art training facility, or sports enthusiasts wanting to keep fit. The 45,000 sq foot facility boasts a fully-equipped multisport training, performance, recovery, rehabilitation, aquatic and hydrotherapy centre, as well as acrylic and synthetic clay and padel courts, while the high-tech Desso Hybrid Grassmaster pitch has already attracted some of the biggest professional football clubs in the world this year as part of their training camps.
