TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE AS LONDON GOLF CLUB PREPARES FOR RETURN OF EUROPEAN TOUR

The stage is set at London Golf Club as it gears up to welcome some of the best professional golfers in the world for its highly-anticipated return to the European Tour calendar.

The stunning 36-hole venue, which boasts two supreme Jack Nicklaus-designed courses – The Heritage and The International – will host the Cazoo Classic, formerly known as the English Open, from Thursday, August 12, to Sunday, August 15, 2021.

Taking place just 20 miles from the capital and with 700 acres of magnificent Kent countryside providing the perfect backdrop, it will represent the fourth and final chapter of the UK Swing this summer, and will be the club’s first European Tour event since the Volvo World Match Play Championship seven years ago.

The tournament will be staged on London Golf’s Club’s esteemed Heritage Course, a prestige UK course and regularly rated among the nation’s top-100 courses, where dramatic tee shots and daunting approaches will have to be carefully navigated by the professionals throughout the week as they battle it out for the coveted title and €1,273,320 prize fund.

The players will be aiming to follow in the footsteps of previous winners – and some of the most successful players in European Tour history – including Colin Montgomerie, Lee Westwood, Darren Clarke, Ian Woosnam and Mark James.

As a member-only course, the Heritage is naturally kept in fantastic condition all year round. But final preparations are well underway from London Golf Club’s greenkeeping team to get the course looking its best. It has been completely closed to members from Wednesday, more than a week before the tournament, to enable them to devote extra care and attention, particularly around the USGA greens.

London Golf Club’s chief executive, Stephen Follett, said: “Months of preparation, both behind the scenes and on the course, are finally coming to fruition and we can’t wait to welcome the players and fans to our club next week.

“Although we have plenty of experience in hosting tournaments of this magnitude, I’m incredibly proud of what the team have achieved given the circumstances and challenges we have faced over the past year or so.

“The course is looking incredible – probably its best-ever condition. I must pay tribute to our outstanding greenkeeping team which has been working tirelessly to maintain and exceed exceptional standards.

“The excitement is building and we’re looking forward to a fantastic week of golf and, if the forecast is correct, the sun will be shining too.”
