Three In-Form Golfers to Look Out For in the Next 12 Months

There are many satisfying aspects of following professional golf tours, such as watching talented new golfers storm up the rankings or seeing established pros enjoy a resurgence in form. This year has seen some top talent rise up the rankings, offering some top wagering opportunities for the most eagle-eyed golf bettors.

With that in mind, here are three golfers you should be keeping an eye on right now.

Abraham Ancer

Elite golf is all about maintaining a trajectory and improving at every step. One player who fulfils these criteria is Mexican Abraham Ancer (pictured above) who we expect to feature heavily in the golf betting tips and markets such as top-10 finish for upcoming tour events. Whether you’re looking for a value pick in the latest golf betting odds or just watching for fun, it’s great to see a top sportsman enjoying a purple patch and, indeed, Ancer looks to be constantly improving his game.

Since his first full season in 2015, Ancer has increased his year-end rankings every 12 months, rising from number 443 in the world to 23 in 2020. He has crept up the rankings even further in 2021 peaking at 17 thanks to five top-10 finishes including a T8 at the PGA Championship.

Ancer missed the cut at the US Open but showed his mental strength by bouncing back to finish fourth at the Travelers Championship. The next step for the 30-year-old is to start adding s
ome more tour wins to his current haul of two, and we expect him to do just that in the coming months.

Harris English

The American is only a year older than Ancer but turned professional three years earlier. Hailed as one of the brightest new talents of his generation, Harris English shot up the rankings in his first two years on the tour and ended 2013 at number 53 in the list, before slipping back down to 333 by 2018.

English’s dip in form moved him off the radar but he worked hard to turn his game around and his resurgence has been one of the top stories in the last year. He landed five top-10 finishes in 2020 and has already recorded two tour wins in 2021 including the recent Travelers Championship after an eight-hole playoff. That victory moved him up to number 12 in the world, a rise of 321 places in less than three years.

He also enjoyed his best-ever major championships performance, finishing third at the US Open.

Sam Burns

The Louisiana-born professional is the up-and-coming talent on the list. Aged just 24, Sam Burns was ranked 881 in the world at the end of 2018 and only joined the PGA Tour for the 2019 season. In the two years since he has risen to number 35 in the world and has bagged his first PGA Tour win in the 2021 Valspar Championship.

Burns followed that with a second-place finish at the AT&T Byron Nelson behind winner K. H. Lee. He has yet to make an impression at the handful of majors he has contested but he will be one to look for when he makes his Masters debut next year.

These are just three names to look out for in the world of golf over the next 12 months. Could one of them even finish 2022 as a major champion?
