The Dorset Golf Resort has always been an environmentally-sensitive club, given its beautiful and unspoilt location, but the Bere Regis-based venue has taken its green credentials one step further this month, following the switching on of two new biomass boilers and the installation of a large area of solar panelling.
The popular Dorset venue, which boasts 27 holes and a wide range of accommodation, will draw all of its power needs from the new energy-saving devices, delivering electricity across the complex, from the large air-conditioned clubhouse and panoramic restaurant to the hotel and international-standard bowls arena.
“As one of the largest Golf Resorts in the South of England, it’s important that we try to do everything we can to reduce our carbon footprint, “ said the resort’s general manager, Graham Packer. “We’ve also invested in a fleet of 20 electric buggies, which represents a significant saving on our petrol consumption. Many of our guests stay with us solely to enjoy the course and the area of outstanding natural beauty the resort sits in. Our aim is to keep it that way for many years to come.”
Out on the golf courses, the club has continued to invest, with new paths and walkways, while more trees have been planted to change the shape of a few holes, while other areas have been opened up to improve the views.
