Who will succeed in the Race to Dubai?

The Race to Dubai golf tournament is just around the corner, and all golf fans will be keeping an eye on who can get a winning result at what is the climax to the 2018/19 European Tourseason.

Past winners of the European Order of Merit have included legends like Seve Ballesteros, Greg Norman and Nick Faldo. While this competition’s morphing into the Race to Dubai has raised a few eyebrows, it’s still a fantastic golf tournament.

This year’s contest will see the winner being awarded $2 million in prize winnings. 2018 saw Francesco Molinari winning the Race to Dubai, but this year has a very different selection of likely champions. The contest is already underway, and the following players are already looking like real contenders.

Bernd Wiesberger

This Austrian golfer has enjoyed a strong 2019 campaign by winning his fifth European Tour title in Denmark earlier this May. As a result many golf fans will be backing the 34-year old to perform well at the Race to Dubai tournament.

In order to see which bookmakers are putting on the top odds for a Wiesberger triumph, you can check the ranking of the best betting sites in the UK. This will highlight the key features of each bookmaker’s site and you’ll be able to find a bonus to get more from your bets on the Austrian star.

Matt Wallace

2018 marked a breakthrough year for Matt Wallace as it was the first time that he’d moved into the top 50 of the Official World Golf Ranking. Since then the England golfer has gone from strength to strength and he’s widely expected to perform well at the Race to Dubai.

Wallace was in great form at the PGA Championshipin Wentworth earlier this September, and he’ll be desperate to improve on his four European Tour wins so far. But whether the 29-year old can hold his nerve for the gripping tournament is another question.

Robert MacIntyre

Robert MacIntyre has come from nowhere to become one of Scotland’s best golfers. The 23-year old star only arrived on the professional circuit in 2017. Still, he has since produced impressive results in the Monaghan Irish Challenge, the Foshan Open and the Ras Al Khaimah Challenge Tour Grand Final.

This strong run of form helped the Scottish star earn a place on the European Tour for 2019 and he hasn’t looked back. MacIntyre was desperately unlucky not to win the 2019 Betfred British Masters, and he’ll be giving Bernd Wiesbrger a real run for his money in the Race to Dubai.

The pair have already locked horns in the Made in Denmark tournament where he finished just one stroke behind the Austrian golfer. From here MacIntyre put in a credible performance by finishing joint-sixth in his first ever Open Championship appearance. All of which set him up for becoming the leading Scot in the Official World Golf Rankings.

Eric Van Rooyen

This South African golfer could be a good outside bet for the Race to Dubai. 2019 has seen Van Rooyen picking up his first European Tour win with an exceptional performance at the Scandinavian Invitation.

This followed up strong results in the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters and the Hassan II Golf Trophy. With a top-10 finish in the recent PGA Championship, the 29-year old golfer will be aching to go one better in this year’s Race to Dubai. But with plenty of other strong challengers in the field, it’s going to be tough to see who will win this thrilling golf contest.
