Hull and Reid win automatic places for Solheim Cup

European Solheim Cup Captain Carin Koch now has four of her 12 team members confirmed for the 2015 Solheim Cup, which takes at St. Leon-Rot in Germany next month.

The four automatic qualifiers from the Ladies European Tour points list are Suzann Pettersen from Norway, Gwladys Nocera from France, and Charley Hull and Melissa Reid (pictured) from England.

With Reid finishing tied for fifth place in the Tipsport Golf Masters in the Czech Republic, the final tournament of the European Solheim Cup qualifying race, she took the fourth spot on the points list, dislodging Anna Nordqvist.

Koch will complete her line-up to take on the United States from September 18-20 when she names the next four automatic qualifiers from the Rolex Women’s World Rankings, and her four wildcards, during a live broadcast on Sky Sports News from 11.30am on August 25th.

Heading the LET’s automatic qualification list is the world no.6 Suzann Pettersen, 34, who will be making her eighth Solheim Cup appearance having claimed her 21st career title in Canada in June. Second on the list is Gwladys Nocera, 40, who will be playing in her fourth Solheim Cup. She earned her 14th Ladies European Tour title in Morocco in March.

Hull, 19, will play in her second Solheim Cup, having been the youngest ever participant on the successful European team in Colorado. She earned her first Ladies European Tour title last year in Morocco.

Reigning European number one Reid will be playing in her second Solheim Cup after some impressive performances this season, including her fifth win at the Turkish Airlines Ladies Open, which she led from start to finish, in May.

Speaking about Reid’s finish at the Tipsort Golf Masters, Koch said: “I’m very impressed by Melissa’s performance. She knew what she had to do and she went out and did it. It’s a lot of pressure, knowing that you have to perform and it’s one of the toughest things in golf. It’s great to have four strong and experienced players that have already qualified, so I’m rreally excited to see the team shaping up.”
