BACK IN THE GAME: TIGER WOODS GIVEN MEDICAL CLEARANCE TO RESUME PLAYING CAREER

Tiger Woods has been cleared to ‘resume full golf activity with no restrictions’, according to his agent Mark Steinberg.

Steinberg said the 14-time major champion ‘got a nice report and is allowed to proceed’.

He added: “Tiger can do as much as he needs to do. He is going to take this very, very slowly. This is good but he plans to do it the right way.”

Woods, who went underwent anterior lumbar fusion surgery in April, has uploaded various golf swings to his social media account, @tigerwoods, in recent days and weeks, ramping up his golf activity from hitting soft wedges to full tee shots with a driver.

Steinberg, however, has reiterated there is no current timetable for Woods’ return to competitive golf. “We have not even talked about it,” he said. “We will see what each day and each week brings.”

Woods’s former coach, Hank Haney, was one of many to comment on the former world No.1’s post-operation swing. He said: “That’s a swing he could win with, it’s not across the line and stuck inside coming down, a little stiff looking, but it’s good enough.”

Woods’ last comeback saw him play just seven competitive rounds. He teed it up at the Hero World Challenge last December, before going on to miss the cut at the Farmers Insurance Open in January. He then withdrew after the first round of the Dubai Desert Classic in February.
